inequity through production and artistry
This production of Blood At The Root is an educational endeavor for PPAS students, staff and administrators. In addition to the normal three day run of spring shows at PPAS, as a part of the schools new Equity in Education mission, the cast will also perform this production for students from 6th grade - 12th grade with educational curriculum developed by Javanna Productions M.O.V.E. and PPAS humanities teachers. The objective of the additional shows is to help students engage in courageous conversations about race, intolerance and oppression thereby preparing them for problem solving and civic engagement in their communities. Students will be exposed to historical and present day academic thought around race relations in the United States and acquire new critical thinking skills for practical application.
Your donation helps us to effectively produce the play for three public performances (tickets available above) and maintain production for an additional 450 students at PPAS during the week of June 1st - June 5th. Your donation will also fund the installation of a civil rights exhibit available for public viewing beginning May 29th at the Professional Performing Arts School. Thank you in advance for your support.
